Here are some of the key benefits of booking a Trial Lesson with First Strings:

Friendly ice-breaker

Starting something new can be a little overwhelming for children, and, as I’m sure you would agree, it can be like that for us adults too!

That’s why we like to offer parents and children the opportunity to attend a free, no-obligation trial lesson to meet in person and find out more about the lessons we offer in a friendly and relaxed setting.

During the trial lesson we can address any questions you or your child might have, and ease any worries they have about stepping out of their comfort zone. We do not enforce a sink or swim mentality – your child will never be thrown in the deep end with us. Quite the opposite in fact… Our friendly and supportive approach will make for a fun and relaxed first experience of guitar, and a taster of what’s to come!

Learn the basics in a relaxed setting

We teach children between the ages of 7 and 12, and, more often than not, our students are beginners. We don’t expect any sort of past experience with, or exposure to, guitar, and we are highly sensitive to the fact that every child is different, whatever their age.

During the trial lesson your child will learn the basics of playing the guitar, as well as a fun and catchy song they can start practicing right away. This means that if they do get started with lessons they will feel comfortable with the guitar and have something they can play already before getting started.

Get advice on buying your child's first guitar

If you don’t know much about guitars or have never played an instrument before, purchasing a guitar for the first time can be a bit daunting. The trial lesson provides a great opportunity to find out more about the different types of guitar available, and we can advise you on where you can buy a great starter guitar for your child locally.

Just can't decide?

While we believe that learning guitar should be fun – our carefully crafted, quality teaching methods are prepared with this in mind – there is an element of self-discipline involved that requires a passion to learn.

Learning to play does take patience, effort and commitment and a trial lesson is a good opportunity for your child to consider whether or not guitar is right for them. Your child might be reassured that learning to play is what they were born to do (!) or they might realise they prefer rocking out on Air Guitar instead!

A trial lesson with us will provide a great introduction to guitar for your child… and did we mention it’s FREE?
